September 2012 - D&G groom's cake

D&G Groom's cake  9.14.12
This has to be my favorite cake I've made so far for a few reasons.
1. It was very challenging. I hand cut each piece of the crest out of sugar sheets, and painted edible glitter on each one. I also hand cut out all of the stripes out of sugar sheets & sprayed them with edible gold mist. Not to mention the 6 layers of cake...
2. Derrick has been one of my best friends for years. When he asked me to make this groom's cake for him, I was honored. I couldn't imagine giving him any less than perfection. I put a lot of time and love into this cake, and I loved every second of it.
3. The reaction I got from the grooms was priceless. I'll never forget their faces! It still makes me tear up thinking of how happy this cake made them.

I designed the cake to match the crest they had designed for their wedding invitations. I also used gold and white to stay with the color theme of the wedding.

 The happy couple!

It was a huge surprise to them that I made the cake into a rainbow! They were so shocked - they LOVED it!

Congratulations to a couple of the most wonderful people I know!

  1. That's such a nice groom cake. My friend is opting for wedding venues Los Angeles for her sister's engagement ceremony. Already hired it at reasonable prices with quality catering. Baking part will be handled by my cousin is same business. Also suggested her reputed decorators for flowers and buntings. Not sure about the menu yet.
